The NHT is Delivering More and we want to keep you up to date on what we've been doing to make homeownership possible.
'Stop buying avocado toast if you want to buy a home'
The most controversial statement of 2017? Maybe not. Controversial enough to infuriate millennials globally...definitely. Australian developer and 35 year-old multimillionaire Tim Gurner sent tongues wagging when he quipped that millennial homeownership goals were being thwarted due to their penchant for store bought 'pear and bread'. Persons were not having it, why?
The NHT introduced the 'Guaranteed Purchase Programme' in November 2018. Under this programme, developers conceptualize and execute their development plans, while the NHT absorbs the market risk by purchasing units in the development. This approach seeks to leverage the efficiencies within the private sector in order that units can be delivered at lower costs, within faster timeframes and with the private partner assuming most of the implementation risks.
Said no child ever, but as we millennials approach the twilight zone, reality is quickly setting in. Whether we like it or not, an upgrade to Adulting 2.0 is inevitable. For some it's marriage, for others its finally choosing the right pet, but for most it means the pursuit of homeownership.
